May Roundup

Boy did this month go by quickly! I’m sure I have said this every month when it’s time to do the round up, but this one felt especially quick. I blame the Easter and May breaks, not that I’m complaining. We had such beautiful weather for most of the month, it was positively summer and for that I am definitely not complaining! Maybe that’s why my creative juices were flowing and I didn’t struggle as much to get shot posted or shared for this month’s roundup! 🌈

“Yellow”– This shot was taken in Ramsey, Cambridgeshire, while we were visiting family. On the drive down I noticed (it was hard to miss) all the fields and fields of rapeseed and I knew I needed to get a shot of them up close! Scroll further down to see a pic of me in the field, I had to stop myself from running through them, not sure the farmer would have appreciated that.

“Mr. McGregor”– This sign tickled Neveah so much, I had to include it in the roundup, we visited a local farm in Ramsey and this was one of the signs that caught our attention. The weather took a turn on us though and the heavens literally opened on us, but I was able to get this shot before we were nearly blown away or drenched!

“Double Planes”– I wasn’t going to originally going to post this shot, because it didn’t do anything for me, but then I thought about how it’s not my usually type of shot and I thought I should include it because why not!? So, here are some random two planes which flew above our heads in Cambridgeshire. You’re welcome.

“Rasta Sheep”– I know, I know they have actual names and it’s something Scottish, but I much prefer Rasta sheep and I’m sticking to it! Now waiting on them to break out some reggae.

“Llllambs”– These were some of the farm animals we spotted before the downpour; I mean can you ever get tired of lambs? Nope.

“Magnolia”– I honestly don’t know if I love anything more than flowering trees, it’s a shame my body doesn’t like them as much as I do, but meh- it provides a great shot! I actually can’t remember where I took this shot, as they’re everywhere!

“Rapeseed Fields”– Like I said earlier, I was enamoured but the rapeseed field, so I had to take and share more shots! 🌻🌻

“Back”– Does this shot make me look like a blogger? I suppose I liken myself to one. I crossed my mind the other day that I don’t show myself much on this, so- here’s a shot to prove that I am in fact a real person. See you next month!

Apple Picking in Oka

I’m not even going to pretend; I should have posted this WAY back in September, but if I’m being honest, I can’t really believe just how quickly the months have gone by. So…yea, forgive me. 😁 So! One of the first activities we did once we got to Montreal, was go apple picking! It’s a Quebec staple and nothing says the beginning of fall, like legit the whole province stacking up on apples. This year, we decided to be different and chose an orchard that also allowed you to pick pears and plums along with apples. Bonus!

“Cloudless”
As we were picking apples and pears, I decided to slack and take shots of our surroundings. I couldn’t get over how there was practically not a cloud in the sky. I also made the sun glare on purpose, because I thought it would add an extra “element” to the shot.

“Plum”
I loved how the area where we could pick the plums, looked so Mediterranian, like a mini vineyard in the middle of Oka. I have to say that I wasn’t the biggest fan of this genre of plums, but my mother LOVED them and possibly devoured a tree’s worth of plums. I decided to edit this shot a little bit moodier because it really did feel like we were in Europe.

“Stack”
After we’d picked our fruits, my daughter decided we needed to go on a nature walk, taking the fruits with us! Hello cardio! After we admitted it was actually really lovely inside the forest, I spotted this pile of birch (I think) and loved the shadows in the shot.

“Mom Apple Smiles”
Here is my momma bear! I figured it was about time she got featured and you can see the culprit for all the missing plums! 😁

“Neveah Apple Smiles”
I had to post this shot, I mean…look at her!!! She LOVES apples and was in her element, knowing she could eat as many apples as she could muster. She actually set this shot up; climbed up the ladder, caused me a minor heart attack, sat the top and asked me to take her photograph.

“Chug”
Because I didn’t really want to drive for an hour to the orchard, we decided to make a change and make it interesting by taking the ferry across from Rigaud, over to Oka. It was such a beautiful day and we got lucky with how mild it was-plus it also freaked my mother out because she doesn’t like being on a boat, so it proved to be hilarious to see her refuse to get out of the car on like the world’s slowest boat! 😁

“Fountain”
I don’t have a very great caption or explanation for this shot if I’m being fully honest, I wasn’t sure how it would turn out- I snapped it very quickly after we finished picking, eating and walking around. This was the last shot just before we headed home, so needless to say- not much thought was put into it and bonus- it came out nice….I guess I kinda know what I’m doing.

November Roundup

To say this month went by quickly is beyond an understatement, I wasn’t prepared for any of it! I actually forgot to post this on yesterday, but who’s checking- lol. 😉

“Journal”
It was really cold and I mean freezing, so cold it actually broke a RECORD on how cold it was. So I spent a lot of time taking shots inside the house because I didn’t pack cold jackets for a Montreal winter…yea, genius.

“Journal 2”
Another shot of my journal, I was working on angles and add the faux fur in the ground to add in a little bit of texture to make the shot more interesting, but also more moody- hence the shadow. Did I succeed? Meh.

“Glass Angel”
Yes, we’re one of those families, who put up the tree early, but I personally love the feeling of coming home and seeing the Christmas tree and with the change of the time, it’s far too dark too quickly, so I’ll take all the good cheer I can muster. This is one of the ornaments which survived on our tree-I have always found it to be very beautiful. I will admit that I found this shot very difficult to take- not sure what it is, but Christmas tree shots are the bain of my life, I can never seem to get the lighting right- still working on it! Plus, I didn’t bring my external flash with me on this trip!

“Pine Cluster”
So, along with the cold, we also got a lot of snow, so on a mild day, I ventured out for a walk because I really love the look of snow on pines. It’s synonymous with Christmas, so it needed to be done. I survived and lived to tell the tale.

“Drip, Drip”
We had a few days of mild weather, where it was actually raining, this is after a ton of snow… One of my favourite shots I have ever taken is raindrops on a spider web, it was such a difficult shot to capture and I had never been more proud of myself. So, I wanted to recreate it. I think I did pretty well if I do say so myself.

“Pines”
I have to let out a squeal, I am actually VERY proud of this shot, it was one of the last shots I took from our walk and I mean…maybe I need to spend less time overthinking it because I seem to get the best ones when I’ve just thought about every aspect of the shot…figures.

“Christmas Mood”
I wanted to wait till next month’s roundup, but I couldn’t wait that long! I was far too excited about this shot and far too excited for Christmas!! Oh..and my birthday!! See ya next month!
